RGB Transition
Silent, 3 minute 20 second video loop
RGB Transition is an art film, for an explanation please read the following description that accompanies the piece when it is exhibited.
Technically, a video image consists of three colour channels - red, green and blue. Each separate RGB channel in this video had the same sequence of 50 common video transitions fed into it. Each channel had a time offset added causing colours to appear as the transitions move but fail to line up. This is similar to mis-registration in print but here it is time that is mis-registered
So the pre-existing, archetypal video transitions are elevated to something new and sublime. An element of chance within a precisely set system creates a visual experience that may not have been discovered any other way.
Made by Timothy Evans in collaboration with artist Daniel Eatock.
